The Language of Attention: A Pattern Approach – Sponsored by Yahoo!  –Bill Scott

interactive language of attention

attention:tribes pay attention

attention:tribal platform

tribal platform:Y! developer network

they’ve improved so much due the the creation of internal tribes, hack days, mash days

design tribe:new model

attention:engaging (wow but must be relevant)

patterns:immediacy, directness (how do you let the user know it’s inline editing)

a nice run down of how these new patterns of interaction as we move to AJAX are creating a need to educate users on how and when a pattern makes sense, or is it the developers that need to learn from the users I guess?

I’ve been arguing this is a current project, mixed interaction = confusing UI, life was easier when there was only one interaction – click!

Y! desing pattern Library – not much there now but they really want to create a consistent vocabulary

Y! UI library released too
